Quakertown United Methodist Church Inter-Faith Awareness Event

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Faith,

We, at Quakertown United Methodist Church are hosting an inter-faith event on Saturday June 10, 2017 at the new Park At 4th in Quakertown. This venue has a large outdoor amphitheater and and paved walking paths. This event is to be open to the public free of charge, is smoke free, and alcohol free.

The purpose of this event is two-fold. First, we believe that this is a critical time to bring diverse Faiths together to celebrate our common humanity and honor our varied beliefs. Second, we have all seen the horror and damage done to our communities through the abuse of drugs and addiction. This common enemy continues to ravage our youth and destroy our families. This affliction knows no bias to race, affluence, sect, or political affiliation.  Thus, addiction is our common nemesis. In a world of increasing divisiveness, especially as expressed in terms of religious difference, it is of utmost importance that we, the communities of Faith, unite on common fronts to show our compassion for humanity by acting in Faith together.

We have submitted an event application to the Borough of Quakertown requesting Saturday June 10 of this year with a rain date of Saturday July 8. The event is to begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 8:00 PM. I anticipate final approval sometime in April.

We envision a day of music, speakers, food, addiction-related services represented, and vendors as appropriate to the event. Our church will bring it’s praise band to play contemporary Christian music. Please consider what you may wish to offer to share your faith and how we may help those who need help. There will be a sound system and stage to handle your needs. We are open to any suggestions that you may have.

Last, while I expect this event to be a lot of fun, I offer my personal plea to earnestly consider participating in some way. This truly is the time for us all to come together and act.

In humility and gratefulness,

I thank you.
