The AJ Butz Foundation, Inc.

The A.J. Butz Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization created in the memory of Andrew “A.J.” Butz, Jr., who lost his battle with opiate addiction in August, 2012. A.J. Butz’s struggle started with recreational use of prescription drugs (Percocet and Oxycodone/Oxycontin) in his teens. As time went on and his addiction grew, he was unable to afford prescription medication. He then began experimenting with heroin, which eventually lead to intravenous use. At the age of 21, A.J. tragically lost his life as a result of a heroin overdose. As A.J. struggled, his family and loved ones struggled along with him. The journey was difficult and painful for not only A.J., but also his family and friends. The A.J. Butz Foundation was founded with the hope of helping other addicts in need as well as their families and loved ones.
